Panther Valley School Board recently approved the following:

Personnel

• Accepted the resignations of Marisa Lichtenwainer, a fourth grade reading teacher, and Lauren Deibert, a second grade teacher, both effective the end of the 2023-24 school year.

• Hired Melissa Wasko as a second grade teacher for the 2024-25 school year at a salary of $54,147, per the union contract.

• Approved hiring an additional teacher at the elementary school, and for Alice Andrews to take a three-credit course in the fall.

• Approved Anthony Buccilli as a volunteer, effective immediately, and Diane Buchman as a third grade representative.

• Granted tenure to the following teachers, all of whom were hired Aug. 25, 2021: Kimberly Bayer, Colleen DeFuso, Hannah Mordaunt, Kristopher Nalesnik, Roxanne Person, Stephen Reimert, Benjamin Turrano and Victoria Yazwinsky.

Other matters

• Booster clubs for the Intermediate School PTO and band for 2024-25.

• Accepting a repository bid for a vacant lot on East Front Street in Lansford in the amount of $890 from Omar R. Gregg.

• The K-6 Student/Parent/Guardian Teacher Handbook, the PVES Teacher/Staff Handbook, the JSHS Student/Parent/Guardian Handbook, the JSHS Faculty Handbook, the Intermediate School Teacher Handbook and the Athletic and Activities Handbook, all for 2024-25.

• The following policies on second reading: Trauma Informed Approach, Student Discipline, Weapons, Terroristic Threats, Public Records, School Calendar, Emergency Preparedness, Relations with Law Enforcement, School Security Personnel, Child Abuse, Public Attendance at School Events, and Municipal Government Relations.
