Lehighton school board approves hirings, accepts resignations

Lehighton Area School District approved several new hires during Monday night’s board meeting, including an elementary social worker and a high school business teacher.

Emma Statler was hired as an elementary social worker at a salary of $54,304, while Nicholas Miller was brought on as a high school business education teacher at a salary of $54,304.

Robert Strohl Jr. was approved as a middle school utility custodian, at a salary of $34,778. Additionally, Belinda Kocher and Tyler Ruzicka were hired as part-time cleaners, each at $12.02 per hour.

The meeting also saw the acceptance of several resignations, including Steven Sofranko, the business administrator, whose resignation is effective as of Aug. 7.

Adrienne Fedor, an elementary center art teacher and gifted education instructor, will also be departing, effective Oct. 4.
