Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• Approved Semmel Excavating application for payment one for $61,723 with regard to the Lock 23 retaining wall, and also authorized payment to Semmel Excavating for up to 100% of the contract amount by Aug. 31 for $131,488.
• Borough grant coordinator Mike Wentz announced that the borough has received a $42,000 Department of Environmental Protection 904 grant.
• Agreed to allow the Civil Service to meet with its labor attorney to start the process of interviewing.
• Approved a resolution agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation about the sinkhole and work along PennDOT roadways.
• Agreed to advertise an old gas tank on Municibid.
• Approved the 2025 financial requirement and minimum municipal obligation for police ($157,394) and nonuniform ($16,800).
• Approved Sgt. Jason Nothstein’s attendance of the Pennsylvania DUI Association’s annual meeting and training from Nov. 20-22 in Champion, at a cost of $800, to be funded out of the educational fund.
• Approved Ronald R. Prutzman’s application for trapping on borough-owned property within Lehigh Township only.
