Panther Valley board hires four teachers

The Panther Valley School Board lost one elementary teacher, but hired another four teachers Wednesday at a special meeting.

The board accepted the resignation of Tori Koehler, a third-grade teacher, effective the end of the 2023-24 school year.

The board hired Katherine Rodgers as a third-grade teacher and Kristina Gilbert to teach second grade for the coming school year, both at a salary of $45,003 per the union contract.

Also hired were Krystal Fitzgerald, who will teach fourth-grade reading, at a salary of $64,903; and Nathaniel Seals, who will teach seventh-grade science at a rate of $48,456. Both salaries are in line with the union contract.

The board also accepted the resignations of Alyssa Bott, a paraprofessional, effective Aug. 2; and Timothy Goida, a full-time maintenance employee, effective Aug. 16.

To fill the vacancies, the board hired Brianne Kroboth as a paraprofessional at the rate of $10 an hour per the union contract; and Riley Hoben as a maintenance employee at the rate in the current Teamsters contract, pending clearance.

Board member Shawn Hoben abstained from the vote for the maintenance employee.

Courses

The board approved Scott Fisher, maintenance supervisor, to attend online professional development courses at Penn College for building operator certifications at a cost of $500.

The board also granted permission for Dennis DiCarlo, an elementary teacher; Julia Gover and Kayla Kiraly, intermediate teachers; and Bruce Millheim and Mary Imossi, junior senior high school teachers, to take three credit courses.

The board also approved Diane Buchman and Patrick Crampsie as mentors for the coming school year at the current union rate.
