Day 14
Not much sleep but it was worth it since I started the day off at track one last time. The environment was still electric, even though medals weren’t up for grabs, and I had the chance to reconnect with a few of my media friends I had seen earlier on during my trip.
After track ended, I headed to more of the central part of Paris and grabbed lunch with one of the girls from UNC. Then I briefly made it back to my hotel to do some packing and take a short nap before I ventured to the last sporting event of my Paris Olympics adventure — Team USA women’s basketball.
I was able to connect with Christine Brennan, who’s been a role model and mentor to me over the past few years. Brennan works for USA Today and is covering her 21st Olympics.
To finish off my last day in Paris, we had a group dinner and capped it off with a giant gelato plus macrons. It was so good. I had a short sleep waking up by 4 a.m. to get ready and leave for the airport with my roommate but it was an adventure, the only fitting way to end my time in Paris!
