Tennis courts reopen at Valley Royale after repairs

Tennis players can get back to doing what they do best at a tennis facility in Mahoning Township.

The courts at Valley Royale have reopened, according to owner Jenn Everett.

Everett said the courts reopened July 31 after having been closed for a week while the cracks were filled and courts repainted.

“Since purchasing five years ago, my dad (Michael Everett) and I had tried to temporarily hold the courts over by sealing some cracks ourselves and painting court lines ourselves, but since I knew the courts had not had proper care in a number of years, having them professionally done was a top goal,” she said.

Everett said business has been great since the courts reopened.

“We have had a lot of private lessons going on in addition to our usual weekly programs of cardio tennis, round robin, socials, and team tennis,” she said. “We also have kids clinics and camps scheduled for this week.”

Everett said that on Aug. 17, they will host a fundraiser for the Valley Royale Foundation. Through the Foundation, they host free clinics in the community, donate tennis equipment and provide tennis instructor training.

On Sept. 14, they will host their end-of-season tournament with singles and doubles play. All skill levels are welcome.

Everett said they remain open to the public, and encourage beginners to join them.

“There’s still quite a few events going on the rest of the summer, so we’re excited that everyone still has plenty of time to enjoy them before the end of the season in November,” said Everett, who added they have a $50 discount code for first-year memberships. “Our nets will stay up until Thanksgiving, so it’s not too late to come out and play.”
