Your editorial about EVs was off the mark Wednesday. All you did was repeat the same old talking points about electric vehicles, many of which are untrue.
I own a 2023 Chevy Bolt and it’s a great car. First off, the new cost was $30,605, with the Federal incentive of $7500 and the state incentive of $2000 bringing the cost down to $21,105.
Chevy paid for a level 2 charger to be installed in my garage. I drive this car for 4 cents a mile in warm weather and 5 cents in cold.
As far as battery life is concerned there are YouTube videos out there with owners of 2017 models with 170,000 miles on them and they still retain 90% of the original battery capacity.
Chevy warrants the battery and drive motor for 8 years or 100,000 miles. I’m 18 months into ownership have 16,500 miles on it and only had the tires rotated.
The only negative with the car is it does not charge fast like a Tesla, so for trips longer than 200 miles it’s not a good car.
I do have a Honda HRV for the few long trips I take. Since your wife has an SUV for longer trips you could have had an EV at a great price.
Don’t sell EVs short and don’t believe all the negative ads put out there by the petroleum industry. Have a great day.
