Norfolk Southern Railroad began replacing railroad ties and tracks Monday morning at the Main Street railroad crossing in Walnutport. Cars are detoured on Washington Street to Canal Street. Trucks must use Route 873 from Route 248 at the Lehigh Gap. Officials were hoping to reopen the crossing today, or Wednesday if the asphalt was not ready to secure the ties and tracks. New tracks and ties were put in place at this location of the track line. Smoothing of all bumps and the right height for the tracks is very important for the trains to run smoothly.
