Lehigh Township’s final inspection for the new maintenance building will be this week.
The ribbon cutting will be at 3 p.m. on Aug. 8 at 1045 Municipal Road, Walnutport.
Lehigh Township supervisors approved a resolution to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph on Mulberry Drive.
The board also approved an increase compensation for recreation board home field workers from $50 to $75 per game.
Manager Alice Rehrig said that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will have the southbound lane closed from February 2025 until September 2025 on the Route 873 bridge.
From the residents: Kathryn Mack Perich asked, as she did from previous meetings, “Where is the money coming from” to pay $275,000, the township’s part of $1.7 million awarded in the settlement to police Officer Jessica Edwards in a sexual harassment settlement.
Alice Rehrig said, “The breakdown of money from each account is not ready yet. Once it is ready, there will be a resolution to compare to the budget.”
Perich also brought up incentives for first responders and municipal workers like property and earned income tax credits.
The Board said they would look into that. Resident L.B. Roman disagreed with this proposal.
Roman said, “It’s just not fair, because there are many of us who find it hard to afford the upkeep on our properties.”
Fire Chief Rick Hildebrand said he could volunteer at the firehouse to receive any tax credits, if approved.
President Mike Jones was absent.
