State police plan DUI enforcement patrols in Schuylkill County

State police at the Frackville barracks announced officers will be conducting a driving under the influence detail on county roads between July 31 and Aug. 14.

Sgt. Shelly Konsavage, station commander, said patrols will be increased as a deterrent to DUI motorists. The initiative will also include a sobriety checkpoint.

In a news release, Konsavage said, “Every year, thousands of people get injured or killed in alcohol and controlled substance related crashes in Pennsylvania. The state police is committed to making the commonwealth highways a safer place on which to travel.”

During the increased patrols, officers will be looking for operators of vehicles who are under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled substances and will take appropriate action against them.

Konsavage said the results of the increased patrols will be released after the reporting period has concluded.
