Nesquehoning prepares to welcome Snedeker
The Nesquehoning community is preparing for the arrival of Joe Snedeker as part of his fundraiser for the St. Joseph Center in Scranton by holding a food truck and family fun event on Wednesday.
The community is planning the event, which will begin at 4 p.m. outside the new Narrow Valley Sportsplex on the west end of town, as a way to welcome Snedeker, who will arrive to town to do live broadcasts on his way through on his inflate and donate bicycle ride.
Snedeker, WNEP-TV meteorologist, will travel from Frackville to Nesquehoning on third leg of his trip. He will ride through Hometown, Tamaqua, Coaldale and Lansford on the way.
Several area groups will provide a variety of food, drinks and activities for families.
For example. Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 will sell sweet corn, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church will be selling haluski, while the Nesquehoning Hose Company has come up with signature drinks in themes for the bike ride.
Parking will be available at the Reading and Northern Railroad campus near building 8 and next to Narrow Valley.
Lois Kuba, who has been a driving force in organizing the event and raising funds that will be donated on Wednesday, said the community is really coming together for this fundraiser.
Information tables will be set up for various initiatives, including train rides, Blueprint Communities, MapleShade Meadows and more.
“It should be a great event,” Kuba said.
The Nesquehoning community has been raising funds for the last few months, raising approximately $3,000 in two bake sales held outside the borough office.
This is the second year Snedeker will be stopping in Nesquehoning during his fundraiser bicycle ride.
Last year, the town handed Snedeker a check for $4,250 for St. Joseph Center.
