Yard sale benefits area dog shelter

The Carbon County Animal Shelter held a yard sale over the weekend at their facility at 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, across the street from the Carbon County Prison. The shelter held sales in years past but stopped them three years ago.

The lot in front of the shelter was filled with all sorts of bargains and new treasures.

Toys, strollers, household items, Christmas decorations, sporting goods, appliances, bicycles, clothing, and more. The items were donated to the shelter to help it raise money.

“We always need treats and food for the dogs,” Michele Connors explained. Connors is a volunteer with the shelter, and wife of shelter Director Tom Connors. “As well as toys and whatever else the dogs may need. We also accept donations of used blankets and towels.”

The shelter currently has 16 kennels and about 20 dogs that need their furever homes.

Call the shelter at 570-325-4828 for more information, or stop by Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
