Calvary - Lewistown
Pastor Kim of Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley, will share the message of “Family of God” at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Rd., Tamaqua. There will be special music.
Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. The Sunday evening praise and worship will be held at 7 p.m. at the tabernacle.
The prayer gathering will be held at 7 p.m. July 17. Call for location information.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. with a Joyful Noise offering. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
On July 21, the congregation will vote on the church organ following the 9 a.m. worship service, and the church board will meet at 10:30 a.m.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
“The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday in the social hall, followed by an ice cream social.
Ice Cream Benefit Social
Zion Evangelical Lutheran congregation will host an ice cream social from 4 to 7 p.m. July 18 to benefit the Tamaqua Fire Police.
This is the sixth year Zion has done a benefit for a Tamaqua emergency service provider.
Previously, Citizens, South Ward, East End and American Hose companies received checks as well as the Tamaqua Rescue Squad.
The menu includes light kitchen fare and plenty of ice cream and toppings. Takeouts are also available.
Zion Lutheran is at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets in Tamaqua.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on June 25 and July 9.
The June meeting was opened with a reading, prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”
The group chanced off flowers and a beach bag by Robert Neifert. Games were played.
The birthdays of Elaine Trusky and Nancy Schugart were celebrated. Beverly Barron was added to the sick list.
At the July meeting, 47 members were present. The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “My Country Home Place.”
The group welcomed back Diane Gould and Nancy Nunemacher. July birthdays include Sherry Herb and Margaret Hegerity.
The summer picnic catered by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven was held, and the group said the food was delicious.
The group is planning a trip to Mohegan Sun Casino in Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 16.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. July 23 at Christ Church in Barnesville.
