Mahoning Township plans to send surveys to residents in its quest to apply for funds to reconstruct a roadway.
The township posted on its website that it’s faced with the need to reconstruct Westside Road, and plans to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds through the Carbon County Board of Commissioners for fiscal year 2024.
In order to qualify for the CDBG funds, it is necessary to conduct a survey to obtain certain demographic information of those households in the project area, said township secretary Natalie Haggerty.
Haggerty said the township will mail surveys on Monday, and asked residents who receive them to complete, sign and mail them back to the township office by Aug. 2 in the enclosed envelope.
“We cannot stress enough the importance of your cooperation in completing and signing this survey,” Haggerty said. “All households must complete the survey in order for CDBG funds to be utilized to reconstruct Westside Road.”
Haggerty said the township appreciates the time taken to complete the survey, and looks forward to the township being successful in utilizing CDBG funds for this important project.
She said anyone with questions may contact her at 570-386-4002 or David Bodnar, director of the Carbon County Office of Planning and Development, at 570-325-3671.
