After 35 years in business, West End Day Care in Palmerton has closed its doors.

Last Wednesday was the day care’s last day as owner Carol Hausman is retiring.

Hausman opened West End Day Care on Mauch Chunk Road in Palmerton in June 1989. It was one of the first day cares in the area.

There were many challenges at first. Updates were needed.

Hausman’s husband, Ronnie Hausman, was able to do all the needed maintenance and upkeep of the day care.

Their capacity was 21 children. They had newborn up to 12 years old in their care. They enjoyed watching the many children grow up. They made so many friends along the way. A lot of the kids that were in their care, brought their children to attend the day care.

Palmerton Borough was very helpful whenever they needed anything.

The day care was bought and will be turned back into a residence.
