Chestnuthill gets update on solar project

Chestnuthill Township supervisors received an update on a proposed solar project.

Correspondence recently received was a technical decision on the 15-acre Effort Energy Initiative project. Objections were overruled and the scope of the project was denied.

The conditional use for the project was submitted prior to the zoning change. Further decisions regarding the project will be forthcoming, the township said.

One bid was received for tree trimming, $64,900, and specific single tree removal on Bryan Lane, $9,500, from Scott Dunkleberger.

A total of $37,581.24 was approved for 16 items sold on Municibid. This includes a traffic light, 1998 Sierra 4x4 and other items that can no longer be used by the township.

The township appointed Tom McKeown to appraise the Echeveria property on Route 209. This property is where a building was torn down, after the pipeline work being done. The property is for sale as it has septic and well approval.

The township will advertise for bids for a recycling center project. A recycling grant will allow the township to build a canopy on one lane and concrete path for the forklift.

Jim Fareri, president of the Developmental Education Services Foundation, attended to request of an extension until Aug. 7, 2025 to build a property that will provide services for mentally disabled adults. This request was approved.

The West End Fire Company reported 41 calls for June and 266 year-to-date.
