The former treasurer of Tremont Township in Schuylkill County is facing theft, fraud and forgery charges stemming from her alleged actions in stealing over $20,000 from the township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Rhiannon Adams, 40, of Tremont, has been charged with misappropriating $22,572.63 in township funds for her own use from April 2023 through March of this year.

Police said she made fraudulent purchases from various businesses utilizing the township’s credit card and wrote business account checks to herself, forging the signature of two township employees on the checks.

An arrest warrant was issued on July 2 charging her with theft, receiving stolen property, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and forgery.
