Coaldale police charged Brett Rodriguez, 45, of Coaldale with terroristic threats and harassment after he threatened to kill a girl at 6:45 p.m. April 6 in the area between East Street and Black Diamond Skate Park.
Police said the victim’s mother brought her to the police department to report that Rodriguez made the death threats. The mother said that her son used to date Rodriguez’s daughter, and that Rodriguez was arrested the prior evening by Pennsylvania State Police after he broke into their home and assaulted her son.
The victim told Coaldale police that she was walking near the bus stop at East and East Phillips streets when Rodriguez jogged toward her and shouted, “I should’ve killed your brother yesterday when I was choking him out. I’m going to try to kill you next.”
The victim said she ran to a Coal Street house and called her mother. The owner of the Coal Street home was interviewed by police and said the victim came to her house crying and having a hard time breathing. The victim told her that Rodriguez threatened her.
Court records show that state police charged Rodriguez with strangulation, simple assault and harassment in the April 5 incident.
