Towamensing Township supervisors

Towamensing Township supervisors conducted the following business:

• A resident of Ziegre Drive asked what can be done about the ongoing squatter problem in his area.

Chair Guy Seifert responded, “We are doing everything within our power to alleviate the problem. The legalities cannot be discussed.”

• The board approved a sign reading “Caution Children at Play” at the intersection of Ziegre and Alton .

• Discussion was held about the subdivision of 35 acres on Strohl Valley Road. The owner was advised that they will need new parcel numbers and the county will make two deeds which will generate a new map.

• All conditions have been approved for Crown PA Builders subdivision in Lake View Estates and an extension letter until Sept. 9 was approved for Sunrise Lehighton Group plans.

• The sanitation bid will be advertised with a deadline of June 27.

• Secretary Jessica Ahner resigned, and Patricia Mann was appointed secretary effective June 17.

• Attorney Angela Stehle was appointed as the zoning hearing board solicitor and planning solicitor.

• The Historical Commission is proceeding with weatherproofing the school house, and Tom Newman has been appointed as a member.

• A brief executive session was called during the meeting and discussion of stronger leadership in the planning board followed.

• The next meeting of the board of supervisors will be held at 7 p.m. July 3.
