Lansford is looking to pave some streets this year, after creating a priority list earlier this year.
The borough is looking at East Abbott Street on both sides of the island in the area of the former St. Michael’s Church, council Vice President Jay Doyle said.
Also, Powell Street and West Ridge Street near the Sports Zoo, he said.
The weather hasn’t been cooperating with their efforts on doing streets, Doyle said.
Equipment
Councilman Joseph Butrie suggested putting the borough’s turnpike truck and old street sweeper up for sale.
Doyle agreed that selling the vehicles along with scrap metal would be a good move. The borough could put any money from the sale toward a new vehicle for the streets department, he said.
The borough might be better off loading the scrap itself onto a truck and taking it to a salvage/scrap yard, Butrie said, noting it would be a good project on a rainy day.
The borough will be looking at listing the vehicles on Municibid, which is an online auction used by government agencies.
Bills
The borough is also looking at new bills for garbage and sewage transmission fees. The new bill format will list all of the properties that people own where fees are due.
The new paper bills will replace the postcard billing, and people will be able to remove a portion of the bill to return to the borough with payment and update contact information on the backside, Ashley McLaughlin, assistant borough secretary said.
Council members plan to review the new bill format and take action on the new system this week.
