Carbon County is making sure every department has the capability of helping someone if they suffer a medical emergency.
On Thursday, the board of commissioners submitted an application to the county’s insurance carrier, Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool, for a $3,214.03 loss prevent grant to purchase two AEDs, which will be placed at the Emergency Operations and Training Center; as well as connecting the fire alarm system to the 911 center.
Commissioner Rocky Ahner, who sits on the county safety committee, thanked the committee for their hard work to identify gaps in safety matters within the county and then addressing them.
The AEDs, Ahner noted, will now mean that every department in the county is equipped with one.
He pointed out that this machines save lives and stressed the importance of having them to protect employees, as well as the public when they are at any of the buildings.
