The Lehighton Band will present its first of three free concerts in the Lehighton Park amphitheater at 8 p.m. June 13.
The concert features a large array of musical pieces but many of them deal with the ocean, thus the concert’s name of “From C to Shining Sea.”
The band will open with Jack Stamp’s arrangement of “The Star Spangled Banner.” The opening march will be Karl King’s “Coast Guard March” and the overture for the concert is a very nice modern style song by James Swearingen entitled “Of Pride and Celebration.”
The band will play another piece of music arranged by Swearingen entitled “The Water is Wide,” which will be followed by Highlights from Jersey Boys which includes “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “December 1963” and “Can’t Take my Eyes off You.”
Next up is “The Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest,” arranged by Erickson. The suite includes “Jack Sparrow,” “The Kraken,” “Davy Jones,” “I’ve Got My Eye On You” and “Wheel of Fortune.” The second march of the concert is another march by Karl King entitled “Call of Victory.”
The Donna Summer 1979 hit “Hot Stuff” will be performed next, and will be followed by John Williams in concert, which includes songs from many of his famous move and TV them songs. Up next is “The Pacific” from the HBO show of the same name.
Next will be “The Mandalorian” from Star Wars, which will be followed by the closing march, John Philip Sousa’s “Hands Across the Sea.”
The concert is free, but a free will offering will be collected. The Lehighton Band is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley.
