An Albrightsville man has been charged after a traffic stop in Penn Forest Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Zachary Mascelli of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop N - Fern Ridge, in the case against Patrick Clossey.
At 12:53 a.m. May 15, Trooper Christopher Gaetano and Mascelli were dispatched to the intersection of Patten Circle and Mount Crest Boulevard for a disabled vehicle called in by a passerby.
Mascelli saw a gold Buick Century parked on Patten Drive, partially off the roadway and stuck on rocks. The keys were in the ignition and the engine was running.
Clossey was seated in the driver’s seat and Mascelli noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He said Clossey had bloodshot, glassy eyes.
Mascelli asked Clossey how many alcoholic beverages he had consumed.
Clossey replied “not too many,” and said he was drinking beers at a business.
He failed field sobriety and breath tests.
Clossey was then taken into custody at around 1:03 a.m. and was transported to PSP Fern Ridge for a chemical test of breath and processing.
At the state police barracks, police tested Clossey with the Intoxilyzer 9000, which yielded results of blood alcohol levels of 0.129% at 1:41 a.m., and the second a result of 0.127% at 1:42 a.m.
This was Clossey’s second DUI offense within the past 10 years.
Clossey faces charges of DU charges and institutional vandalism.
Clossey is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 3 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
