Some spots remain for the elected and municipal officials exercise at Carbon County’s Emergency Operations and Training Center in Nesquehoning that is taking place tomorrow.
On Thursday, Commissioner Wayne Nothstein said that while sign-ups have ended, due to space still being available, any official is welcome to attend. They can email cceotc@ptd.net or waynenothstein@carboncounty.net or just show up to the training site at 88 Public Safety Lane, located next to the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency on the Broad Mountain in Nesquehoning.
The training begins at 9 a.m. and will educate municipal elected officials, as well as other governmental officials on what first responders do to prepare for emergencies.
There will be live burn scenarios, active shooter drills, pulling a fire hose and more.
Nothstein said that participants should dress appropriately, such as jeans and sturdy shoes, because of the types of drills that will be occurring.
This is the second time Carbon County has hosted this event in the hopes of educating officials on various emergency responses.
