Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Authorized the borough manager to hire two people for summer work at the rate of $12 an hour.

• Approved a request for a handicap parking request at 596 Mauch Chunk Road.

• Announced that the borough is still accepting letters of interest for a vacancy that exists on the zoning hearing board.
