New sign coming for Phifer’s Ice Dam

A new sign will be painted for Phifer’s Ice Dam in Franklin Township.

Resident Gary Trainer pitched the concept to the township’s board of supervisors on Tuesday.

Trainer told the board that 25 years ago, he painted the sign for Phifer’s Ice Dam, and that he’d like the job of painting a new sign.

“I guarantee that it will last my lifetime,” Trainer said. “Again, everything around it is going historical, so I thought this would be a nice thing to add.”

Trainer assured he has plenty of experience.

“I’ve done a lot of signs that have lasted 25 years,” he said, and cited Beltzville Manor Marine. “I’ve done carvings before and signs years ago.”

Trainer said the price would be $500, which averages out to like $25 a year if it lasts 25 years.

Board Chairman Fred Kemmerer Jr. thanked Trainer.

“The one you’ve already done stood the test of time,” Kemmerer said.

Trainer noted he’s also recently done work at Cindy’s Deli.
