Albrightsville man sentenced for shooting

An Albrightsville man accused of shooting a man in the thigh in 2022 was sentenced Monday to 4.5 to 10 years in prison, following a guilty plea in Carbon County Court.

Travis Otero, 33, pleaded guilty in front of Common Pleas Judge Steven Serfass to aggravated assault stemming from the Nov. 21, 2022 incident.

According to court documents, the incident happened in front of a home on Chapman Circle in Albrightsville, where Otero shot a 30-year-old man who had to be transported to St. Luke’s Hospital Carbon Campus for treatment.

The victim told police that Otero said he was upset that he had talked to Otero’s ex-girlfriend.

Other charges, including attempted homicide, simple assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and two counts recklessly endangering another person, were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
