May 25, 2000 - Northern Lehigh’s Ashley Hughes and Kara Kern combine to pitch a three-hit shutout as the Bulldogs advance to the District 11 Class 2A semifinals with a 4-0 victory over North Schuylkill. Hughes tosses the first five frames, allowing a pair of hits while striking out 10. Kern relieves and throws two scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. Hughes adds a hit and a run on offense, as does Katie Steigerwalt, while Jenn Rose contributes a hit, a run and an RBI. The winners, coached by Maureen Leaswitch, also receive an RBI bunt from Abby Bloss.
