Officials of Laneco’s main office were on hand on Saturday to officially open Bright’s Store at the Carbon Plaza Mall in Mahoning Township.

Guy Bartolacci, Laneco president, cut the ribbon signifying the start of the store’s second hundred years, which, he said, will run with an insight toward sound marketing principles.

The store was originally opened in 1882 with six employees in Lansford by Joseph Coleman Bright. In 1952, Brights acquired a three-story department building in Lehighton, where it opened its men’s department.

The firm went on to become the largest retain center in the area, establishing a great reputation locally and nationally.
