Tamaqua Council OKs hirings, transfers

The Tamaqua Borough Council approved a number of hirings and transfers to the borough work force during its Tuesday meeting.

Council hired Phoenix Ritchie as a part-time police officer. He was sworn in by Mayor Nathan Gerace, and his employment is effective immediately.

Zane Bynon, Gavin Clouser, Lauren Hill, Nathan Milkovits and Michael Styka were brought on as part-time maintenance workers at a rate of $12.50 per hour plus $0.25 per hour for each year of service.

Michaelene Trubilla will serve as a part-time utility billing clerk at a pay rate of $17 per hour.

Council hired part-time lifeguards Andrea Betz, Alexis Bowman, McKenna Ehrig, Ben Klingaman, Nicole Mushock, Marcus Roseland, Sophia Sitlinger, Destiny Steinmet, Sean Wall and Edward Zuckovich. They will be paid $10 per hour, plus 25 cents for every year of service.

Pool clerks hired include Destini Denning and Griahnny Santos. They will be paid $9 per hour.

Transfers include Shane Young to mechanic/street department employee; Lonnie Ahner to wastewater treatment plant work leader trainee, and Todd Macalush to wastewater treatment plant operator.

Council also approved permanent transfers for Timothy Ziegler to borough secretary/treasurer and Lori Patrick to full-time utility billing clerk.

Finally, council retained Frank Staines as a full-time building custodian effective June 6.
