May 17, 1985 — A big third inning allows Marian’s softball team to pull away from Mahanoy Area and earn its seventh straight victory, 11-2. The Fillies, who end league play with a 13-1 mark, break a 1-1 tie by plating seven runs in the third. Two-run singles from Kim Kapes, Dana McCullion and Renee Stelmack, along with an RBI double off the bat of Krista Gromalski account for the runs. Carolyn Sanko gains the win, scattering six hits in her seven innings of work. Danielle Mears adds a run-scoring hit later in the game, as does Stelmack and Beth Yourechko.
