Man sentenced in drug case

A Shamokin man was sentenced on May 2 in Schuylkill County Court for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine for an incident that occurred in Port Carbon Borough.

Judge James P. Goodman sentenced Achille Walker to serve a state prison sentence of 7½ to 20 years for possession with intent to deliver 224 grams of methamphetamine.

The drugs were found during a traffic stop on Dec. 1, 2022.

Walker was convicted by a jury after a one-day trial occurring on March 11. The conviction was a result of cooperation between the Port Carbon Police and the Pottsville Bureau of Police.

The Commonwealth was represented by Attorney David Noon, and the charging officer was Patrolmen Craig Barket of the Port Carbon Police Department.
