Crusaders For a Cause hosts carnival

The 18th annual Crusaders For a Cause spring carnival will be held Thursday through Sunday in the Palmerton Borough Park.

It will run from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, 5-11 p.m. Friday, 4-11 p.m. Saturday, and 2-7 p.m. Sunday.

The carnival will feature a vast array of fun-filled activities, food, and entertainment.

Food vendors will include Dales Concessions, Parryville Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 with their PA Dutch funnel cakes and deep fried Oreos, Island Expressions with their refreshing smoothies and more, Caribbean Noodles, and Christina’s Reptile and Animal Sanctuary with their famous tacos and taco salads.

The entertainment lineup for the carnival is as follows: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Roadhouse, which will perform classic rock, blues and funk; 7-9 p.m. Friday, Hall of Fame Roy Orbison tribute artist Terry Harris; 7-10 p.m. Saturday, world-renowned Elvis Presley tribute artist Jeff Krick Sr. will perform country, oldies, rock, and gospel in his first set, and Elvis in his second set; and 3-6 p.m. Sunday, the Dynamic Duo: Dave and Brenda Rehrig, will play country and oldies. Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs, as the benches around the bandstand fill up quickly. There are to be no bicycles or skateboards riding around the band shell during the hours of entertainment.

Rides are provided by AEB Amusements with wristband days on both Thursday and Sunday.

There is also bingo every night, along with a silent auction hosted by Blue Mountain Animal Rescue Society, a mechanical bull, and a variety of craft vendors.

Apollo the alligator will be there from Christina’s Reptile and Animal Sanctuary, where pictures may be taken with him for a small donation. Waffle the Sulcata tortoise will also be on hand.

Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders for a Cause, said the event offers a little bit of something for everyone.

“We are hoping to see everyone out for the carnival to have some fun,” Obrecht said. “As always the proceeds benefit local charities, so we appreciate everyone that comes out to support us and our cause.”

Obrecht added that she can’t believe this will be the group’s 18th year.

“We couldn’t do this without all of our supporters and volunteers, and I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all,” she said. “We hope the weather stays clear and everyone has a good time.”
