Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Awarded a contract in the amount of $121,103 for the lock 23 retaining wall project. The borough already had $53,000 from FEMA for disaster repairs for the damaged retaining wall. The borough will use unused loan funds to make up the balance and seek additional funds from FEMA for reimbursement. The borough has a funding deadline of June 30 by FEMA.

• Made a conditional offer of employment to Nick Lafata as a part-time police officer.

• Approved officer Scott Ledo to attend schooling at a cost of $549.

• Agreed to reimburse DLE Repairs a $25 fee.

• Announced that an E-recycling events/shredding event will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday.

• Announced that the Walnutport Canal Association will hold a breakfast on May 19.

• Approved the application of use of facilities for the Walnutport Playground Association to use the pavilion for the softball team’s year-end party from 4-8 p.m. June 15.
