May 9, 1970 - Palmerton’s Bruce Kocher wins two individual events to help the Blue Bombers capture the team title at the annual Lehigh Valley League track and field championships. Kocher takes the high jump, setting a new meet record by clearing 6-3. He also cops the shot put with a distance of 48-11. Palmerton, which scores points in 12 of 14 events, also receives firsts from Pete Eck (880), Lynn Byerly (mile) and Jim Graver (two-mile). Lehighton, which places second in the team standings, gets wins from Den Fritzinger (440) and Joe Frey (triple jump). Fritzinger’s time of 51.2 also sets a new meet record.
