East Penn Township

The East Penn Township supervisors discussed, approved or were informed about the following items at their meeting on Monday:

• Accepted the resignation of Keith House from the East Penn road crew effective June 28. He has been on the road crew for seven years, and will remain as a supervisor for East Penn Township. House plans to take on a new profession as the pastor of a church in Palmerton.

• Road report: Finished with the large amount cleanup after the storms. All winter equipment is stored away. New East Penn signs will be installed. Cold patch was done throughout the township. Drainage and shoulder work was done on Germans Road. Shoulder mowing has been started throughout township.

• The East Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department asked the township to apply for a joint grant for a new firetruck.

• Discussed writing a letter to George’s Busing Co. to put a bus stop warning sign on Route 895 near Lizard Creed Campgrounds and Church Hill Road.

• Discussed Ordinance #75, which states that recreation vehicles cannot be on open lots. There must be structure on the property. The discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
