Other business:

• Weissport Police Chief Matthew Williams presented reports for March and April 2024. In March, he responded to 19 calls, including 3 quality of life issues, 3 traffic violations, 2 public drunkenness, 2 possession of CDS, 2 possession of drug paraphernalia, plus additional calls.

In April, there were 14 calls, including 3 disorderly conduct, 2 traffic violations, 2 possession of drug paraphernalia, plus additional calls.

• Garbage fees collected for April, 2024 were $8,023.42. Year to date total is $54,850.50

Taxes collected are $13,567.99.

• Councilman Arland Moyer Sr. reported that the Department of Environmental Protection surveyed the levee along the Lehigh River in Weissport. Overall, the levee is in good shape. Some of the outflow pipes will be inspected with cameras to make sure the pipes are not clogged or cracked.

• One issue to be addressed is a brush pile near the old baseball field that needs to be removed. It is located near one of the levee pipes, and they do not want it to clog the pipe. Borough Vice President Joe Foster is looking at possibly doing a controlled burn to dispose of the pile.

A backup plan would involve either having a company run the brush through a chipper or rent a chipper and do the work themselves.

The borough will check with the Lehighton Fire Department regarding the controlled burn.
