Ashland man charged after kicking pregnant woman

An Ashland man faces assault and other charges after kicking a pregnant woman in a Lansford home Monday afternoon.

Lansford police charged Joshua Daum, 35, of North Erin Lane, with simple assault, defiant trespass and harassment following the incident at a West Ridge Street home.

He was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning in lieu of $7,500 bail.

According to court papers, a woman at the residence said that Daum came to retrieve his belongings after being released from prison. He decided not to take anything, left the home and was told he was not welcome back, court papers said.

Daum returned when the woman was not home, and was found in the basement, court papers said. He was given time to retrieve his belongings and leave.

Daum became confrontational and struck the woman with his foot, causing her to fall off a bed onto her stomach and injure her arm, court papers said. She told police that she is 18 weeks pregnant.
