Work continues on historic Towamensing schoolhouse

Towamensing Township Supervisors held an executive session about litigation prior to the proceeding with the May meeting agenda last week.

Although the board began to read sanitation bids the decision was made to table this as there was a vast amount of documents involved.

The Historical Commission said they will begin to complete a ramp to the front door of the one-room schoolhouse this summer. They are in need of more siding and aluminum flashing. Troop 209 has agreed to do a project at the school. Anyone interested in helping can contact Don Bennett at 610-681-8807.

Line painting was wrapped up and the line painting at the Fire Company parking lot is complete.

Supervisors approved requests for fire police for the Palmerton Borough “Airing of the Quilts” on Saturday and Palmerton Memorial Day May 27.

Guy Seifert noted that Township is looking for the missing Fire Company “repeater” that was on a Pencor pole by the Blue Mountain Ski Area. The repeater is important to allow the fire company to reach further with their radios and keep in communication with other fire companies. No one is aware of when or who removed it. If anyone has any information please contact the Township.

The next meeting of the Towamensing board of supervisors will be held on June 6 at 7 p.m.
