Local Roundup: Results from May 3

The Marian baseball and softball teams each recorded wins on Saturday.

Pleasant Valley’s girls lacrosse team moved one win closer to completing an unbeaten regular season, and Northern Lehigh earned a win in baseball action.

SOFTBALL

Executive Ed.-Marian

Morgan Kelly recorded her 700th-career strikeout as Marian blanked Executive Education for a 10-0 non-league win to clinch its ticket for the postseason.

Kelly pitched another gem for the Fillies (10-7 overall), as she struck out 12, walked one and only allowed one hit to earn the win.

Gracie Sendatch and Emily Upanavage had three hits in three at-bats for Marian, as both finished with three singles. Sendatch scored three times, while Upanavage crossed home plate twice and recorded an RBI. Deanna Pugh added a double with two RBIs.

Laifriedy Mejia recorded the lone hit for the Raptors (7-5), as she spoiled the no-no with a single in the fourth inning.

Saucon Valley snapped a five-game losing streak to come away with a 5-3 Colonial League win over visiting Northern Lehigh.

Matty Seyfried scored on Tori Fink’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Panthers (4-12 overall; 4-11 CL) which turned out to be the game-winning run. Mallory Brown went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and two runs scored.

Haylie Fenstermaker and Kaitlyn Stock (RBI) accounted for the lone hits for the Bulldogs (10-6; 7-6), while Kylee Snyder scored two of her team’s three runs.

BASEBALL

Executive Ed.-Marian

Marian held on to gain an 8-7 non-league victory over Executive Education.

The win was the Colts’ fifth in their last six games.

Brian Hinkle had two hits and two runs for the winners, now 10-7, who broke a tie game with a three-run sixth inning.

Dylan Zullo added a pair of hits, a run and an RBI, while Noah Bauder also finished with two hits and a run. Lachlan Segedy chipped in with a hit and two RBIs.

For the Raptors, who fell to 7-6, Jarol Cabrella ended 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Palmerton-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Palmerton in the completion of Tuesday’s suspended game.

Parker Schaeffer had two hits, a run and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-14 overall and 4-10 in the league.

Connor Simms tossed a four-hitter to gain the win, while Rayden Buskirk chipped in offensively with a pair of hits and a run.

For the Blue Bombers, who slipped to 5-14 and 4-11, Derek King finished with a hit and a run.

Tri-Valley-Pleasant Vy.

Caden Leonard had three hits and scored three runs to help Tri-Valley cruise to a 13-1 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bulldogs, who banged out 14 hits, also received a double, triple and three runs from Lucas Scheib.

Anden Bordick reached base twice with a hit and a walk for the Bears, and also knocked in his team’s only run. Zach Pandolfo added a single and a run scored for PV.

Tri-Valley upped its mark to 13-4, while Pleasant Valley dropped to 5-14.

Dallas-Jim Thorpe

Dallas turned back Jim Thorpe for an 11-9 non-league victory.

After trailing 5-2 and 8-2 early on, the Olympians (5-12 overall) tied the game at 9-9 with a five-run fifth inning.

The Mountaineers (12-3) took the lead back in the sixth scoring a run on a throwing error by the Olympians, and then added an insurance run on an RBI single by Dylan Geskey in the seventh.

Geskey finished with a single, double, a run scored and three RBIs, while Jack Leandri followed with two singles, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Josh Louk led the way for the Olympians, finishing with three singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Cole Lazorick finished with two singles and two RBIs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Valley-Kinnelon

Devon Bush and Rylee Rath both scored six goals apiece, and Pleasant Valley cruised to an 18-2 non-league victory over Kinnelon.

Olivia Iandoli added a goal and three assists, while Samantha Miller recorded a hat trick for the Bears (17-0).

Evelyn VanDerheyden (two assists), Morgan Ryals (goal), Alivia Rath (goal) and Gabrielle Kutzler (assists) all contributed to the attack. Abygail Borger finished with eight saves.

Pleasant Valley will close out the regular season today at home against Abington Heights in pursuit of an 18-0 regular season. The Bears were also unbeaten last year.

Chloe Burzysk was the lone Colts (4-9) player with multiple goals, as she finished with two.
