Honor induction today

The Pleasant Valley High School Honor Society induction takes place at 6 tonight in the new auditorium.

Volunteer mtg. tonight

The next Our Lady Queen of Peace flea market volunteer meeting is at 6:30 p.m. today in the church hall. All volunteers are asked to attend.

Flea market set

Effort UMC will host a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Gilbert Legion

The Gilbert American Legion has many events happening at the Post 927 facility. Thursday the Legion will host its monthly meeting, beginning at 7 p.m.

On Saturday the post will host Kentucky Derby day, beginning at 2 p.m. with Derby Day specials.

Sunday the Legion building will host the AL Riders and a Blessing of the Riders ceremony. That begins at noon.

Monday is Bingo Night, open to the public and beginning at 6:30 p.m. with card sales and at 7 p.m. it’s playing time.

The West End Home Association meets at 6:30 p.m. and the following evening, Wednesday, the Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m.

Art show Saturday

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced its May art show.

The show, “Artists in Nature,” will present a variety of art mediums, including clay, oil painting and watercolors for a unique nature-themed show.

The works of Tricia Lowrey Lippert, Joni Oye Benintende, Peter Salmon and Marilyn Pastor Abdalla will be on display in the Gallery at Kettle Creek May 1-31.

The Kettle Creek Art Gallery is hosting a Meet the Artists from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be open Saturdays, May 4 and May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pre-registration is not required for this program.

OES tea party

Members are reminded that it is time at 1 p.m., Saturday, to set up at St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Appenzell for the annual Tea Party taking place Sunday. RSVPs should be made at 570-977-6673.

On May 24 and 25, the group will hold its drive-through lunch fundraiser of BBQ Pulled Pork or Sloppy Joe at 2720 Rimrock Road. One can choose hot, ready-to-eat, or cold, to take home.

Special celebration

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold a May crowning and celebration after the conclusion of the 8 a.m. Mass on Sunday.

Weather permitting, worshippers will process to the church pavilion with a statue of Mary for a prayer service, crowning and an ice cream and waffle social. The Youth Choir will sing and the students will crown Mary.

All are invited to the simple prayer service.

Families are reminded there is no drop-off for religious education as students and families are to attend the celebration together.

Sunday meeting

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is holding its Spring Congregational Meeting Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. service. The annual report will be reviewed and council members will be elected.

Sunday block shoot

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club will host its next block shoot and meat raffle Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. The site is 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg.

It is a 12-gauge shotgun event only. The public is welcome.
