National Day of Prayer

The Lehighton National Day of Prayer is scheduled for May 2 in the Lehighton amphitheater - upper park beginning at 6 p.m. Area clergy and leaders will participate in the program and in case of inclement weather it will be held in Bethany Evangelical Church, 220 North St., Lehighton.

Trinity Happenings

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton begins at 4 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Synodically Approved Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Coffeehouse fellowship is in Luther Hall afterward.

Sunday Church School classes for students age 3 through grade 6 and confirmation preparatory instruction classes begin at 10:45 a.m.

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trinitythriftstore.

Movie Night will be held in Luther Hall at 7 p.m. on May 18. Free admission to view “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” starring Harrison Ford. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase to benefit Youth Group activities.

St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday with Holy Communion in Fellowship hall. Sunday school is held from 9:45-10:40 a.m.

Spring cleaning day will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Lunch is provided.

A grief support meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday.

A fundraising meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. on May 8.

Dinkey Memorial Church has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room, located below the sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would benefit from receiving food from the Community Cupboard, please speak with Pastor Tony.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton will hold an 8 a.m. worship service with a Praise Band; 10:15 a.m. traditional service; and Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. Communion service will be the first Sunday of each month.

• Vacation Bible School: June 17-21 from 6-8 p.m. The theme is “Celebrating God’s Greatness.”
