State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 52-year-old McAdoo man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police made at 2:09 a.m. April 6.

They stopped him in a 2022 Toyota Rav4 for numerous Motor Vehicle Code violations on East Market Street in Banks Township ND police said it was determined he was incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle.

• A 30-year-old Beaver Meadows man was charged with carrying a concealed firearm after police made a traffic stop at 10:07 p.m. April 20.

They stopped him in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz for Motor Vehicle Code violations in the 200 block of North Cedar Street in Hazleton, after which time they discovered the weapon.

• Gregory Pope, 62, of White Haven, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Walmart store in Hazle Township at 3:30 p.m. April 20.

Police said he is suspected of using the self-checkout aisle at the store to steal miscellaneous food items valued at $78.99 and a Nerf toy worth $2.94.
