The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N, Hazleton, and Hazleton City police conducted “Operation Trigger Lock” on April 20, seizing various drugs and making a number of arrests.
Officials said the joint enforcement detail was conducted due to recent violent activity within the Hazleton City limits. During the 12-hour detail, police make contact with 209 drivers, the results of which are: traffic citations issued, 115; traffic warnings issued, 64; and six Act 64 (Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act) arrests made, 6.
Police said the operation also resulted in the seizure of the following narcotics: fentanyl, 6 grams; crack cocaine, 5 grams; wax marijuana, 3 grams; marijuana, 1/5 pounces; and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Police said they also made 10 arrests for driving under the influence; an arrest of another person for DUI while having a 6-year-old in the vehicle; and two arrests for illegal possession of a firearm, with the firearms having been seized. Police served four arrest warrants and engaged in one pursuit of a vehicle, which ended in the apprehension of a DUI operator in possession of narcotics.
