April 29, 1963 - George Barron wins two events and George Darker sets a new school record as Tamaqua gains a 67-46 track and field victory over Hazleton. Barron captures the 100-yard dash in a time of 10.5 and claims the shot put with a distance of 50-5. Darker clears 5-10 in the high jump to break the all-time Blue Raider mark of 5-8 3/4, which was held by three different people. Darker also wins the javelin with a throw of 155-9. Other Tamaqua firsts come from Tom Jones (220), Bob Flail (discus), John Leibensperger (pole vault) and Jimmy Hosler (mile).
