Family Dollar closed after vehicle crashes into building

The Family Dollar on East Patterson Street in Lansford remains closed after a sport utility vehicle slammed into the back of the building Saturday morning.

The vehicle, which was stolen from Summit Hill, crashed into a brick building in the area of Pardee and East Bertsch streets. Summit Hill police said two juveniles were involved, identified and arrests pending.

A sign on the front of the building reads, “Closed until further notice,” and yellow caution tape remains up at the back of the building and plywood covers the area the vehicle impacted building.

Police from Lansford and the other Panther Valley communities were either on scene or assisting Saturday morning. The American Fire Co. of Lansford and Lehighton EMS were also on the scene.
