Bowmanstown Water Authority

The Bowmanstown Water Authority recently took the following action:

• Adopted a resolution that increases the connection fees for the borough.

The increase will be actual costs based on time and material. A $500 deposit is now required for the water connection permits.

• Approved Tom Berger Paving to make repairs to Lime Street in the amount of $4,750. The Sewer Authority will pay two-thirds of the bill, and the Water Authority one-third.

• Agreed to have Michael Emery from Pa Rural Water Association, Bellefonte, attend the next borough council meeting to get information including costs to create a GIS map of the water system throughout the borough. The map would include all the water lines, valve boxes and shut-offs and everything else associated with the water system. It was suggested that the mapping could be done in sections and be added to next year’s budget. A map was done of the borough’s sewer system.

• Recommended that the water authority purchase a pipe locator. Information such as pricing and models from a CoStars vendor will be provided at the next meeting.

• Announced that the borough received an insurance check in the amount of $3,575 for damage done to the Tri valley Water building. The damage was done by a falling tree on Jan. 10. Insurance inspectors recommended that the roof on the building be replaced in the near future.
