Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. May 8 at the West Penn Township annex. Election of officers will occur at the meeting.

Poppy sales will be held May 22 at the Hometown Farmers Market.

St. Peters - West Penn

The Sunday schedule at St. Peter’s in West Penn: 9 a.m. worship service, 10:15 a.m. Sunday school, 10:30 a.m. confirmation class and 6 p.m. Girl Scout meeting.

Play practice is at 7:15 p.m. Monday and on Thursday, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. followed by the Senior Choir at 7 p.m.

The St. Peter’s Dinner Theater will be held at 6 p.m. May 3.

Luncheon

A Birthday Bash luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 14 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Cressona. The event is sponsored by the Pottsville Christian Women’s Club and will feature Pam Tillman speaking about “Snapshots of a Life as an Amateur Photographer.”

Karla Felty will speak about summer skin care and Dale Cresswell will provide special music. The group will be collecting kids’ food items for a local food bank.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will share a message of hope and love at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical UMC, 824 Catawissa Rd., Tamaqua. Special music will be provided. The Sunday evening service of praise and word is at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. There will be no evening prayer and share on May 1 but volunteers are needed to clean the tabernacle.

A National Day of Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. May 2 at Zion United Methodist Church in Reynolds.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on April 18 with 25 members in attendance.

In May, the group will celebrates its anniversary.

The group meets every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Rush Ryan Delano Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on April 23 with 31 members present.

A moment of silence was held for Edna Romanick.

An election of officers was held, and all positions remain the same with Robert Neifert as president; Jayne McLaughlin as vice president; Ruthann Feane as secretary, and Gloria Gerhard as treasurer.

A picnic is pending on July 9. The next meeting is at 1 p.m. May 14 at Christ Church, Barnesville.

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Zion men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall.
