Eldred vacancy

On Tuesday, Eldred Township Board of Supervisors will be accepting letters of interest for the appointment of an individual to a vacancy in the office of township supervisor.

To serve as a township supervisor, an individual must be a registered voter of the township and must have resided in the township for at least one year.

OTOH events told

Operation Touch of Home will be attending Community Night at Northampton Community College, Monroe Campus on April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The group will next meet at 7 p.m. May 14, and then, on the weekend of July 12 to July 14, OTOH members will attend Pocono Raceway.

More information will be made available in the next several months.

New appointment

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity names Scott J. Fabian the new Executive Director. He has served Habitat in various capacities since 2019.

Congregational meeting

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, reminds its membership that the Spring Congregational Meeting is Sunday, May 5, after the 10:30 a.m. service.

The annual report will be reviewed and council members will be elected.

May block shoot

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club will host its next block shoot & meat raffle on May 5, beginning at 11 a.m.

The site is 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg. It is a 12-gauge shotgun event.

Breakfasts continue

The All-You-Can-Eat Pancake breakfast sponsored by EAA Chapter 839, Stroudsburg, will be held Mother’s Day, May 12, serving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and sweet breakfast treats.

Located at 222 Hickory Lane, Stroudsburg (Sciota), the chapter will feature free Young Eagle flights for kids ages 8 to 17, Para motorists, balloons, and will have the Keystone British Car Club and Lehigh Miata Owners Club showcase their vehicles.

Planting time set

The Garden of Giving has announced its big planting weekend for May 18 and 19. The planting will be done both days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is the big start of the Summer Garden. All supplies will be provided for the volunteers, and a great picnic lunch will be served under the trellis.

On Memorial Day weekend the garden is closed.

The garden begins summer hours of 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, on June 7.

Indoor helpers are still needed for the office, for the computer and to organize the various volunteer groups.

On June 18, the church is taking a bus trip to Sight & Sound Theater to see “Daniel.”

The all-inclusive cost includes round-trip bus trip from Saylorsburg, the 11 a.m. performance theater ticket (main floor), the 2:30 lunch at Miller’s Smorgasbord, and all gratuities.

VBS announced

• St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, has announced that its VBS, Camp Firelight, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, July 15 through July 19, in the grove. The theme is Camp Firelight.

Students ages 3 to 12, youth helpers ages 13 to 17, and adult leaders are being asked to be part of the team.

The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and will include Bible storytelling, crafts, science experiments, snacks, games, music, fellowship, and making new friends.

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church has announced it will host its Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon, July 22 through July 26.

There is no registration fee this year for this week of faith and fun.

Registration forms are available on the church’s website/at the church office/at the bulletin stations.

Adult volunteers are always needed for props and activities. Clearances may be required.

• Effort UMC will hold its VBS the week of July 29 through Aug. 2. The theme for the week is: Hometown Nazareth - Where Jesus was a Kid. This program will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Those who are willing to volunteer at VBS, contact Deb Audett at: daudett@ptd.net and she will assist folks in signing up and ensuring clearances are up-to-date.

A sign-up sheet to register the youth will be placed on the Welcome Center in the near future.
