Palmerton Concourse Club honors Guiding Stars

The Concourse Club of Palmerton announces the 2023-2024 Guiding Stars of Palmerton Area High School. These young women were recognized at the March meeting of the Concourse Club at St. John’s Church in Palmerton.

Each senior is in the top 25% of academic ranking, has demonstrated leadership qualities in extracurricular school activities and participates in community programs and events. These high achievers were awarded a certificate, a check, and an engraved star charm.

Hannah Elizabeth Barry

Hannah is the daughter of Kimberley and Brandon Barry. She has two sisters, Hailey and Avery.

Her hobbies are basketball (captain), soccer, and spending time with her friends.

School activities include: basketball, soccer, National Honor Society, Environmental Club, and Student Council.

Hannah volunteers throughout the community and the school for National Honor Society.

Her future educational plan is to attend Acadia University, where she will major in physical therapy.

Maddie Everett

Maddie is the daughter of Jennifer Hartman, Chad Everett, stepmother Debra Bowman, and stepfather Richard Hartman. She has two siblings, Gracie and Jaxxson.

Her hobbies include singing, dancing, acting, public speaking, politics, business, and spending time with friends and family.

School activities include National Honor Society, FBLA (president), Mock Trial (president), Drama Club (treasurer), Chorus (treasurer), Yearbook, Avenger, and Film Club.

Her community activities include tutoring at S.S. Palmer, volunteering at the Community Festival, and volunteering for the Bowmanstown Fire Company fundraisers.

Maddie plans to attend a four-year university to study political science to become a human rights lawyer.

Serenity Maureen Hamilton

Serenity is the daughter of Amy and John Jackman. She is the granddaughter of Donna Frace.

Serenity’s hobbies are singing, acting, dancing, listening to music, art, and reading.

Her school activities include drama club, chorus, film club, video club, art club, FBLA, and yearbook.

Her community activities include volunteer work with the Girl Scouts.

Serenity’s future educational plan is to attend a four-year college, where she will major in film or theater arts.

Megan Jane Matsko

Megan is the daughter of Tricia and Jim Matsko. She has three siblings, Johanna, Natalie, and Luke.

Megan’s hobbies are hiking, reading, and shopping.

School activities include Environmental Club (secretary), National Honor Society, Student Council, FBLA, video club, social media club, basketball (captain), and softball (captain).

She is a member of high school ministry and altar server (both at Sacred Heart Church).

Her future educational plan is to attend college with the accelerate 3+2 physician assistant program.

Cora Audrey Wentz

Cora is the daughter of Kimberly and Corey Wentz. She has a brother, Gunnar.

Her hobbies include playing sports, running, being outdoors, baking, graphic and interior design, photography, and shopping.

She is a member of the National Honor Society (president), soccer, track and field, cross-country (captain), FBLA, Art Club, Leo Club, Chorus, Student Council, Class Secretary, Yearbook (vice-president), Aevidum (co-president), SADD (president), Environmental Club, PAAC (president), and Avenger (secretary).

Her community service activities include tutoring at S.S. Palmer, babysitting at Towamensing PTO events, Lunch Buddies, volunteering at 5K races, and participating in Girl Scout community activities.

She plans to attend Millersville University majoring in business administration with a minor in photography. She plans to participate in both track and field and cross-country at the college level.
